Citizens Advice Bury & Bolton is an independent, local charity that provides free, confidential and impartial advice to the residents of Bury and Bolton.

We aim to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

At CABB we have highly-trained, professional and experienced advisers assisted by trained volunteers, available to help you with any issue you may be facing. 

Our specialist advisers can provide advice in areas such as Welfare Benefits, Community Care, Money & Debt, Housing, Immigration & Asylum. 

We also have a wide network of partner organisations and access to the unique Citizens Advice information system, meaning we can provide support on a range of different issues as well as sign-posting clients to further sources of help and advice. 

In addition to this, CABB is the only advice agency operating across Bury and Bolton to be externally quality-assured and accredited by all of the following organisations:

  • Legal Aid Agency Special Quality Mark 
  • The Law Society Immigration & Asylum Accreditation 
  • Office of Immigration Services Commissioner 
  • Money and Pensions Service
  • Advice Quality Standard

Our high level of quality-assurance and accreditation means you can guarantee our advice is reliable, up-to-date and compliant with the latest legal standards. Our immigration advice service possesses the highest level of accreditation available, meaning we are legally compliant and regulated to provide independent, quality-assured advice on immigration-related issues.

The Samaritans is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can be contacted on 116 123 or by email.

Switchboard is a helpline for LGBT+ people and is open 10am until 10pm everyday. You can call them on 0800 0119 100 or use their online chat.

Shout 85258 is a 24 hours a day text service which offers mental health support. You can contact them by texting SHOUT to 85258.

The Silver Line — a helpline for older people ran by Age UK. Call 0800 4 70 80 90 24hrs a day

NSPCC Helpline — if you’re worried about a child. Call 0808 800 5000 (Mon-Fri 10am-8pm)
